Pricing

What we charge.

One fee, set against the purchase price of the car, and nothing hidden behind it. Everything else — freight, inspection, customs, delivery — is billed to you at cost.

How the fee works

  • A $500 refundable* retainer starts the search and is credited against the fee.
  • The fee is charged on the purchase price of the car — the price of the car itself — not on the landed total after shipping and tax.
  • It is our only markup. European transport, ocean freight, marine insurance, inspection, travel, customs brokerage and delivery are all billed to you at cost, with your approval before anything is booked. We don't mark up shipping and we don't take a commission from the seller.
  • The car is yours from the start. It is invoiced in your name and imported in your name — you are the importer of record throughout.
  • Travel and inspection are separate. When our team in Europe goes to see a car in person, their travel and the inspection itself are billed on top of the fee, at cost. We tell you what it will run and get your approval before anyone gets in a car or on a train.

* Terms and conditions apply to the refund. Contact us to learn more.

The rest of the cost

What else lands on the bill.

Our fee is one line on a longer invoice. As a rough guide, a car bought in Europe tends to arrive here at somewhere between 1.3 and 1.45 times its purchase price once everything below is paid, before our fee. That is a rule of thumb, not a quote.

  • Import duty at the standard 6.1% rate. If the car qualifies under CETA and the seller can produce a valid origin declaration, that drops to zero. We budget at the standard rate and treat CETA as upside rather than a promise.
  • Sales tax at your province's rate, assessed at the border on the value CBSA accepts. British Columbia charges a higher rate on higher-value vehicles.
  • Getting it here: European inland transport, export handling, ocean freight, marine insurance, customs brokerage, and the drive from the port to your city.
  • Before we commit: an independent pre-purchase inspection by TÜV, DEKRA or ADAC, plus travel for our team in Europe where the car warrants a set of eyes on it in person. Both billed at cost, both approved by you first.
  • On arrival: the federal excise tax on air conditioning, and provincial registration.
  • Not always, but sometimes: the federal excise tax on fuel-inefficient vehicles, $1,000 to $4,000, assessed case by case. The federal luxury tax does not apply — it only reaches vehicles manufactured after 2018, and everything we import is at least fifteen years old.
  • Exchange rate risk is real. A few cents on the euro moves a six-figure car by thousands, and the rate that matters is the one on the day you pay.
Worth saying plainly

Nothing on this page is a quote. Real landed cost depends on the specific car, where it sits in Europe, how it's shipped, the seller's VAT treatment, the exchange rate on the day, and the value CBSA accepts at the border. Once there is an actual car to price, we build a proper itemised quote, line by line, before anyone commits to anything.
